We all sat round the kitchen table having dinner one evening. There was me, Nan B, Melissa, Charlotte, Lauren and Lia, all enjoying a nice Italian meal and chattering about our day. Nan B was explaining about some new glasses she was getting. Nan B, "Oh there those new sort of glasses, you know, those special ones that have the two different lenses... urrr..." Everyone else, "urrr...." Nan B, "….Bifocals!" Melissa, "Bifocals!" Charlotte, "Bifocals!" I was amused that bifocals had been said three times in a row, so added a fourth..., "Bifocals!" I then looked over to Lauren to provide her input... Lauren (confused), "Bifocals?" At this point we all looked over to the remaining person at the table who had yet to follow suit. Lia sensed everyone’s eyes were on her. The room fell silent whilst Lia finished her mouthful of spaghetti. She then peered up at the rest of us and said... "Pineapples!" It might not sound funny now but the comic timing was genius, I'm sure Lia meant it to be funny as she looked so smug with her comment. One of my favourite dinnertime memories.
